Here is the review of this week’s Fall II/Holiday LA Market Week from Apparel News.
As the article says, I found there was mixed feedback from showrooms on buyer activity. June market is one of the slower market weeks of the year along with August.
The Cooper Building was by far the busiest of the buildings foot traffic-wise. The Cooper is now THE place to be if you are a contemporary collection. It has wrested away the mantle of premium showroom location held for so long by the New Mart.
The Designers & Agents show on the 3rd floor of the New Mart was about half full of booths. Foot traffic was OK. There were lots of accessories booths this time.
The men’s and women’s contemporary floors in Cal Mart were slow when I was there. The Focus apparel show and Transit shoe show in the 13th floor event space had some foot traffic.
We now enter a doldrum period for buying contemporary fashion. Things will start moving again as we approach the launch of the Spring/Summer ’13 collections at the Las Vegas round of shows in August. I can’t wait!
